Anamul-Mosaddek Dropped from BPL Draft over Fixing Suspicions
Anamul Haque Bijoy and Mosaddek Hossain Saikat

The players’ draft for the 12th edition of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) will be held on Sunday (30 November). However, a revised final list was published a day before the draft, excluding several players who had been under suspicion for involvement in match-fixing during the previous season.

Two current national team players — Anamul Haque Bijoy and Mosaddek Hossain Saikat — have been left out of the newly released draft list.

Although the BCB had never previously disclosed names of players suspected of fixing, their omission this time has made the matter public.

The preliminary draft list for local players had initially included those accused of involvement in fixing. But based on the recommendation of BCB’s Anti-Corruption Consultant Alex Marshall, the suspected players were dropped from the final list.

Bijoy and Mosaddek were both placed in Category C, where the base price for players is set at BDT 22 lakh. Following their exclusion, spinner Alis Al Islam has been added to Category C.

A total of 159 local players have made it into the final draft list for this year’s BPL. In the highest category, Category A, there are two players — Litton Das and Naim Sheikh.

Additionally, the list includes
12 players in Category B
17 in Category C
26 in Category D
38 in Category E, and
63 in Category F.

According to this year’s draft regulations:
Each team must pick a minimum of 2 players from Category A and B, 6 players from Categories C and D, 3 players from Category E, and at least 1 player from Category F.
