Two of the four allegations raised by former Bangladesh Women’s Team captain Jahanara Alam have been proven, with an independent inquiry committee finding former women’s team selector and manager Md Monjurul Islam guilty of inappropriate conduct.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) said the committee found prima facie evidence that Monjurul Islam’s actions were inconsistent with professional standards and fell under misconduct and harassment as defined by Supreme Court guidelines. The remaining two allegations could not be substantiated due to lack of evidence.
The five-member committee, chaired by former Appellate Division judge Justice Tariq Ul Hakim, submitted its report to the BCB on 2 February 2026. Monjurul Islam’s contractual tenure with the board ended on 30 June 2025.
Following the findings, the BCB has engaged its legal team and reiterated its zero-tolerance policy on harassment and misconduct. The board also announced strengthened complaint mechanisms to ensure a safe environment across Bangladesh cricket.
At the same time, the BCB has strengthened its institutional safeguards by adopting a formal Complaint Committee in compliance with the High Court Division’s 2009 judgment.
The committee is headed by BCB Director and Chairperson of the Women’s Wing Committee, Rubaba Dowla. The board has also initiated steps to establish an independent complaint mechanism and implement mandatory awareness training to ensure a safe and respectful environment across Bangladesh cricket.
