Lahore Qalandars have signed Bangladesh left-arm pacer Mustafizur Rahman on a direct contract for the 11th edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL). The deal is reportedly worth PKR 6.44 crore.

The franchise confirmed the signing on social media on Thursday (5 February). Lahore Qalandars stated that Mustafizur had previously represented the team in the 2016 and 2018 editions and has now returned to the franchise through a direct overseas signing.

“Our Bangladeshi brother, Mustafizur Rahman, picked in 2016 and 2018, is now our direct signing and finally back with the family. Once a Qalandar, always a Qalandar. Amount spent on DS: PKR 6.44 Crore” the franchise said while announcing the signing.

Mustafizur did not get a chance to play during the 2016 season. However, in the 2018 edition, he featured in five matches for Lahore Qalandars, picking up four wickets while conceding runs at an economy rate of 6.43 per over.

Unlike the previous ten seasons, which were held under the draft system, PSL 11 will introduce an auction format for the first time. The auction is scheduled to take place on 11 February. With overseas slots available ahead of the auction, Lahore Qalandars secured Mustafizur through a direct contract.

The upcoming edition of the PSL will feature eight teams following the inclusion of two new franchises. PSL 11 is set to begin on 23 March.
