Bangladesh leg-spinner Rishad Hossain has been bought by Rawalpindi for PKR 30 million at the Pakistan Super League (PSL) auction.
At the auction held in Lahore on Wednesday (11 February), Rawalpindi secured Rishad after a bidding contest. His base price at the auction was PKR 11 million.
When Rishad’s name came up, Rawalpindi placed the opening bid. Karachi Kings later joined the bidding, but Rawalpindi eventually acquired the Bangladeshi spinner for PKR 30 million.
This marks the first time in PSL history that players are being picked through an auction format.
Rishad Hossain also played in the previous edition of the PSL, where he represented Lahore Qalandars. The Bangladeshi leg-spinner took 13 wickets in seven matches for the title-winning side. However, he will play for a new franchise this season.
Earlier, Rishad featured in the Big Bash League during the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) window. Playing for Hobart Hurricanes, he claimed 15 wickets in 12 matches in his debut appearance in Australia’s domestic tournament.
