The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced a 15-member squad for the upcoming three-match ODI series against Bangladesh this month. Left-arm pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi will lead the side, which features six new faces.
All three matches of the series will be held at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur from March 11 to 15.
The six new call-ups in the Pakistan squad are Abdul Samad, Maaz Sadaqat, Muhammad Ghazi Ghori, Saad Masood, Sahibzada Farhan, and Shamil Hussain. Former ODI captain Babar Azam has been left out of the squad amid the inclusion of the new players.
Among the newcomers, Samad, Sadaqat, Masood, and Shamil were recently part of the Pakistan Shaheens squad that played against England Lions in Abu Dhabi.
This will be Afridi’s second ODI assignment as captain. In his first stint as skipper, he led Pakistan to a 2–1 series victory over South Africa at home.
Bangladesh and Pakistan have played 39 ODIs against each other so far. Pakistan have won 34 matches, while Bangladesh have secured five victories.
The first ODI of the three-match series will be played in Dhaka on March 11, followed by the second and third matches on March 13 and 15 respectively. All matches will be day-night fixtures.
