BCB Seeks Councillors’ Names by May 16

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has finalised the list of associations, clubs and organisations eligible to nominate councillors for its upcoming Board election, with submissions required by May 16.

The decision was taken at the fourth meeting of the BCB Ad-hoc Committee, led by Tamim Iqbal, held on Wednesday (May 6) at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur.

As per Article 12.7 of the BCB Constitution, a total of 192 councillors will be nominated across three categories. The BCB will shortly send formal letters to the সংশ্লিষ্ট bodies, requesting them to submit the names of their nominated councillors within the stipulated deadline.

Category-01 (District & Divisional Representatives):
A total of 71 councillors will be nominated from this category, who will elect 10 directors. Dhaka, Chattogram and Khulna divisions will each have two directors, while Barishal, Sylhet, Rajshahi and Rangpur will have one director each.

Category-02 (Clubs):
This category will have 76 councillors, who will elect 12 directors.

Category-03 (Universities & Other Organisations):
A total of 45 councillors will be nominated from this category, who will elect one director to the BCB Board.

Earlier, at its third meeting, the Ad-hoc Committee approved the formation of an Election Commission. The call for councillor nominations marks another গুরুত্বপূর্ণ step in the lead-up to the upcoming BCB elections.
